All was not lost when Maytan Music closed on Center Street. A new musical influence is having a grand opening April 25 from 4-8 pm at 735 South Center Street. Mountain Music Parlor offers classes, concerts, jam sessions and workshops in traditional American musical styles (bluegrass, old time).

See the artwork of more than 100 artists in restaurants, galleries and businesses in the downtown Reno Arts District during Art Walk Reno.
On July 3, 2014, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., local and regional artists will have art in 14 stops, between Liberty Street and Second Street, and Virginia Street and Arlington Avenue.

One of the coolest things about Reno is there are a ton of people here who give a damn. From the Biggest Little City Campaign to Midtown and West of Wells taking the reigns of their own neighborhood, there are a lot of people who invest serious amounts of time and money into showing other locals and tourists just how cool our urban corridor is.
The latest example of this is the Positively 4th Street event, now in its second year. At its core, this is a group of business owners who are fed up with the bad wrap that 4th Street consistently gets. The East 4th corridor has actually cleaned up quite a bit over the years, but often falls under the radar of locals and tourists seeking a good time.
Here's your chance to see how passionate these business owners are about their own neighborhood, and what the East 4th Street corridor has to offer.

Vote for local favorites Sil Shoda in a Competition called "Hard Rock Rising" run by the Hard Rock Cafe. They recently competed in Lake Tahoe and won our region! Out of 12000 submissions world-wide they are one of 80 bands left in the competition. Voting has now gone to the "Global Stage" and is done via Facebook. Voting went live on April 28th and finishes on May 7th. The winner gets an all expenses trip paid to go to Rome Italy to play in front of 40,000 people and the two runners up will receive $10,000 in music equipment. So let's support our local talent and get these guys to Rome!
Since the formation of the band in late 2008, the boys in Sil Shoda have been up and down the West Coast playing with such acts as: Buck Cherry, Hell Yeah, Royal Bliss, Halestorm, Rev Theory, Hurt, Big Elf, Since October, Divide the Day, Puddle of Mud, Queensryche, All That Remains, Steel Panther, Bobaflex, Framing Hanley, Eddie Money, as well as many Extremely talented local and regional bands. Band members consist of: Robert James-Vocals/Strings, Anthony Vairetta-Backing Vocals/Lead Guitar, David Kellers-Backing Vocals/Bass Guitar, Scott Curtis - Drums. Sil Shoda Released their full length debut album "Aces and Eights" in June of 2011.
