ReTRAC Train Trench Cover

The ReTRAC project in downtown Reno was an amazing undertaking. It basically buried miles of train track in a trench that was dug out right through the heart of Reno. Now, it's time for it to be covered!

The train trench cover will cover two city blocks length of the train trench through downtown, providing areas for artists to perform, sunken and risen plazas, beautiful arches which will allow lines to grow on it providing shade in the summer. Construction is slated to begin in June/July on Phase 1 of the cover, while bids are currently out on Phase 2.

Looks like after all the waiting, there may finally be some work getting done on this project. I walked by the ainbow Bridge, and it looks like they're beginning demolition. Hopefully this project gets off the ground sometime soon...
