Take a YouTube Food Tour of Reno
There are some awesome places to grab a bite to eat in Reno, even compared to larger cities. We have our own Foodie group on Facebook, and some people get excited enough about it to make videos and blog about it. I am not sure on the source of the video below, it just popped up on my Reno RSS feed. The buzz on Facebook is it's a college student project. In any case, it's a cool vid, worth a watch, and promotes downtown and Midtown businesses from a younger perspective.

Downtown Episode IV: A New Hope
There are a lot of exciting projects queued up for downtown Reno. If even 3 of them come to fruition, downtown Reno will be a strikingly different area.
The first one involves the former Woolworths building. The plan for Woolworths is to convert the first floor into a full-size grocery store.

Reno is cracking down on vacant properties in the downtown area, and recently promoted code enforcement officer Alex Woodley to revitalization manager. According to this story at News 4, he has already notified 25 properties of 56 code violations. Read the full story here.

The Whitney Peak Hotel has selected Miles Construction, a design-assist and construction management firm, as general contractor for its $6 million hotel renovation project and set to replace the historic Fitzgerald’s Hotel & Casino in downtown Reno in Spring 2014.

A permit was pulled for the renovation of the currently-neglected Babylon Night club building located on the corner of 2nd street and West Street. They are using the name "Singer Social Club." They just pulled a $60,000 Remodeling permit. The first possible step in cleaning up this block of 2nd Street a bit!
