An Evening at the Sierra Tap House

It's a good healthy sign of downtown rejuvenation when a business can open up and within a week be successful. As of this writing, there hasn't been much publicity on the place. I was at the River Festival May 12 walking down the riverwalk and all of a sudden I walk past this lively, quaint, pub where a wedding chapel used to be. It had tables outside and reminded me of some of the pubs in the business district in downtown L.A. The place was packed, jammin and cried out 'come in and have a beer!'.
Our city council, which usually means well, gave them a rough time during the permit and application process, and it took Sierra Tap House nearly a year to open. Come on City Council, you can do better than that! If we're redeveloping downtown, we're supposed to ENCOURAGE businesses like this to come downtown, not scare them off with bureaucracy.
Anyway, enough ranting. Stop into Sierra Tap House, and say hello! The Owner, Charlie and his wife Heather are super nice people who followed their vision for a year to open this classy downtown pub. This site kept their spirits up when the permit process kept knocking their spirits down, so Sierra Tap House has a special spot in my passion for downtown living and growth.
