New Murals in Midtown Showcase Art
Marmot Properties recently commissioned artist Eric Burke to paint a mural on their garage doors facing the alley between Sinclair and Center Streets. It's the latest of many murals painted by Burke in Midtown. This one is titled "Flight of the Bumblebee."
I'm a huge fan or murals as a visual way to enhance the neighborhood, and it also deters graffiti.

In any case, it's a cool vid, worth a watch, and promotes downtown and Midtown businesses from a younger perspective.

Former Roses Cafe Turning Into ???
I have to admit, I was a little worried when longtime Midtown staple Rose's Cafe closed. That worry partially stemmed from my anxiety about having to find another good neighborhood sandwich shop to replace their unique creations, and the other was a vacant building plaguing recently-revitalized Center Street. A new tenant rapidly took over however, engaged in both an exterior and interior renovation, and is yet unnamed. Anyone know what is going in? Given the number of picnic benches and tables on the outside, I am guessing it's a new restaurant, but what?
18 Sep 2013Downtown Episode IV: A New Hope
There are a lot of exciting projects queued up for downtown Reno. If even 3 of them come to fruition, downtown Reno will be a strikingly different area.
The first one involves the former Woolworths building. The plan for Woolworths is to convert the first floor into a full-size grocery store.
