Jacobs acquires Gold and Silver Inn on 4th Street

by Mike Van Houten / Feb 1, 2022

Jacobs Entertainment has acquired the real estate associated with the landmark Reno restaurant, Gold and Silver Inn.

In a statement, Jeff Jacobs, CEO of Jacobs Entertainment, adds “with this acquisition we now own all of the real estate encompassing Reno’s Neon Line on the south side of West 4th, between Keystone and West street. We look forward to the continued revitalization of the area in general, and the Gold and Silver Inn block in particular. We appreciate Jeff Payne’s commitment to operate Gold and Silver Inn as a tenant for the next two years to the same high standards he has always run his restaurant."

Jacobs Entertainment is currently reimaging the block, which will include a collection of historic Reno structures. Additionally under consideration is the possibility of converting Gold and Silver Inn into Nevada’s first 100% nonsmoking gaming property.

"We look forward to the continued revitalization of the area in general, and the Gold and Silver Inn block in particular. ' Lol, they haven't revitalized anything. I think some of their lots are back on the market.

The city has sold their souls to this guy! Hope it works out… I have major doubts.

"currently reimaging the block, which will include a collection of historic Reno structures." What is the source for this? I'm not seeing them detail any specific plans to retain any historic structure they've bought.

So are they "reimagining" Gold and Silver out of business?

He will create a cheap reproduction of their neon for their grave yard on 4th street and then bulldoze it. His past behavior doesn’t reassure that there is any other future for it. I am sure this had something to do with it too… "My father and his business partner got it in the early '70s. It's a nonrestricted machines-only license. There is no motel-hotel room requirement."

100% about the unrestricted gaming license at that location.

he's going to leave downtown as empty lots until he can sell them off for a massive profit, large enough to cover the city's buy-out clause.

My grandfather ate here every morning until he died. Jacobs will bulldoze it and have it be a vacant lot for 10 years... Reno is looking like a half-built, deserted city, at least the "blight" looked like a city with something in it... now it's just empty. We're just going to give half the city to a single developer? One who, btw, has yet to build anything but a mini concrete wall. At least the West Second District had a whole masterplaned idea, Jacobs has nothing.

Brings to mind how they hounded the Liberty Belle out of existence to complete their cheesy landscape for the Convention Center.

"As a tenant for 2 years". Then what? Scrape it and all its history? Alicia? Until Jacobs presents a conceptual overall site development plan, they must be stopped. Cold. No CUPs. No alley abandonments. A little more Brekhus and a lot less Shieve,
