Reno Experience District's two-acre 'Urban Green' park is now open for the public and residents to enjoy. It sits in front of the movie theater, flanked by the Emory and the massive 'Building 3' being constructed. The mixed-use project RED fronts Virginia Street between Grove and Plumb. The park is located in front of the movie theater entrance.
I checked it out over the weekend. It's a really nice area, complete with benches, walking paths, drought-tolerant landscaping (the lawn is fake) and cool little hangout spots, a dog park, and a large screen (not sure if it will be LED or projection) presumably for events like movies in the park. Check out the full gallery below.
I noticed a small commercial space being built on the southwest corner of the park (photos below).
I think this is the smaller commercial building circled in the rendering below, its location matches. I'm guessing this will be a restaurant or lounge, and serve food that can be taken and eaten while roaming the park. A great complement to the movie theater.
I wonder how "public" this will be when gangbangers and homeless start hanging out there, like they do in our city parks.
