Downtown Episode IV: A New Hope

There are a lot of exciting projects queued up for downtown Reno. If even 3 of them come to fruition, downtown Reno will be a strikingly different area.

The first one involves the former Woolworths building. The plan for Woolworths is to convert the first floor into a full-size grocery store.

Two Chicks coming to Midtown

Looks like Bernie found a tenant to keep Chuy's company in the new Sticks development! Two Chicks, an Eggsceptional Breakfast, will be joining Chuy's soon at the Sticks development located in Midtown. You can check out their Facebook page here.

Mega-Development for Virginia Lake?

So check out Edgewater at Virginia Lake. It's a large project that has been around a while, but like many others put on the back burner...or at least I remember seeing something about it before. It has turned up on the City of Reno's web for a recent planning review on August 13. Perhaps this project is being ressurected? It comprises the entire east side of Virginia Lake, and provides solid arguments in its tentative map documents to support it.

Reno Cracks Whip on Downtown Properties

Reno is cracking down on vacant properties in the downtown area, and recently promoted code enforcement officer Alex Woodley to revitalization manager. According to this story at News 4, he has already notified 25 properties of 56 code violations. Read the full story here.

Kaia Fit Midtown will be opening a new studio at 820 South Virginia Street in the same building as Twisted Minds.

Whitney Peak Hotel Selects Construction Firm

The Whitney Peak Hotel has selected Miles Construction, a design-assist and construction management firm, as general contractor for its $6 million hotel renovation project and set to replace the historic Fitzgerald’s Hotel & Casino in downtown Reno in Spring 2014.

Midtown - Something Moving into Formerly Pink Building

Bablyon Night Club Downtown Headed for Remodel
