A new 'thing' is coming to downtown Reno on the Riverwalk! I don't know exactly how to describe it, other than what's in the permit, but, it will apparently be a public community space with landscaping, and also somehow use shipping containers as structures. Oh also, there's a beer garden, AND will be a place for food trucks to convene.
Here's the official permit info:
BEER GARDEN. COMMUNITY SPACE WITH FOOD SERVICEPROVIDED BY INDEPENDENTLY OWNED FOOD TRUCKS;"TEMPORARY" STRUCTURES USING RE-PURPOSEDSHIPPING CONTAINERS; PLUMBING, ELECTRICAL, SITEWORK AND LANDSCAPING.
The owner of the land is 'Freight House District LLC.', but not THAT Freight House District. The owner who previously or may still own Siena Commuities, acquired the land as part of the Reno Aces Ballpark deal. They were also going to develop Thoma Lofts, located where the Sticks development now is, but that never panned out in time before the big real estate crash. It looks like he's done some cool things in Ventura...nice to see them interested in Reno again. Let's hope this pans out! The property is being leased and developed by Kurt Stitser & Phil Buckhart.
They've got a cool beer garden with shipping container bar in Estes Park. Would be very cool for downtown Reno.
