Also on the agenda is the Flying J Truck Stop, planned to be built at the Robb and I-80 interchange (southeast side) What a nice way to welcome visitors to our fair city!

Admittedly a truck stop isn't so great of an item to have to consider, but what about a proposed solution rather than a quick jab at the city planners/government? It's really easy to criticize, but the author of this website obviously knows who makes decisions regarding the future of Reno and Sparks, so why not make a constructive suggestion that may help the situation? It would be interesting to know if there are other ways of supporting the vital interstate trucking and transport systems in Nevada without having to break new ground. Also keep in mind, I'm sure a Flying J is a PLENTY welcome sight for a trucker who's been driving all day and night.

The Flying J truck stop being the first thing people see when they get to Reno is a sad excuse made up by people who are afraid that it will ruin their views. The entire Robb Drive housing situation has been ruining the beautiful scenery that used to greet visitors to Reno since they started construction up there. The first view of Reno that visitors used to get was coming over the hill by the McCarren Blvd exit and seeing downtown (best seen at night). Now you get to Boomtown and you can see houses of Somersett cascading down the hills over Verdi and Mogul. So why not put a truck stop there? I live in Sparks and have to deal with the 2 truck stops there all the time and since Boomtown closed their truck stop, the truck traffic has gotten worse. Reno needs another truck stop along I-80. Robb Drive is a great location due to the easy on/easy off ramp on the south side of the freeway.
