Rumor has it that there will be a Wal-Mart going in there. A mini type one that is primarily a grocery store.

It is a real shame that they couldn't save some of the large trees and incorporate them into the new expansion somehow. I am not a tree-hugger, but big trees are awesome in the summer and make shopping centers look more friendly somehow. I think if new development would do this more often, it would be awesome. Just my two cents. Thanks Mike for keeping us informed - as always. :-)

Jack, there WAS an old plan for a neighborhood Walmart (small store) but that plan was dropped and the property was purchased by a developer (REA) from California. REA built the relatively new mall that contains Petsmart, etc across from Home Depot just south of Neil on South Virginia. Their tentative plans for a mix of smaller retailers on the Shopper's Square site were detailed in this NNBW article from last October... http://www.nnbw.biz/ArticleRead.aspx?storyID=9769
