John Van Druten’s classic play, Bell, Book and Candle begins the 26th season at Brüka Theatre - A Classic Revolution. This bewitching comedy stirred with a wicked potion of love is directed by Mary Bennett. This will be classic theatre at its best, with this spellbinding and definitive classic. Set in 1957, Gillian Holroyd is one of the few modern people who can cast spells and perform feats of supernaturalism. She casts a spell over her upstairs neighbor, Shepherd Henderson, and the chaos of love ensues. Unfortunately, witches cannot fall in love, and this small challenge leads to a number of difficulties. Gillian must choose between her life as a mystical witch or the life of a human in love.
We will be partnering with The Nevada Humane Society in the casting of the role of Pyewacket, the cat. Representatives will also be available in the lobby pre-show with animal adoption information and opportunities. Please visit our Bell, Book & Candle Shoppe in sub-Brüka through the run of the show for uniquely magical items for sale, with a portion of the proceeds going to the theatre.
All Brüka mainstage evening shows will begin at a new time: 7:30 PM. All matinees will begin at 2:00 PM. Brüka was recently named “Best Local Theatre Company” by The Reno News & Review for the 21st year in a row.
