Permit filed for new five-story, 66-unit apartment building on Winter and 2nd Street

A permit has been filed for a new five-story, 66-unit apartment building on Winter and 2nd Street by Desert Wind Homes. 

The permit reads:

APARTMENT BUILDING. NEW APARTMENT BUILDING, INCLUDING GRADING, SITE WORK, UTILITIES, CMU, FRAMING, MEP, ROOFING, ELEVATOR, WINDOWS, SIDING, INSULATION AND FINISHES. SPRINKLERS, FIRE ALARM, PRE-FAB BALCONIES AND TRELLIS WILL BE SUBMITTED AS SEPARATE PERMITS. PERMIT TO BE REVIEWED UNDER DEVELOPMENT CODE IN EFFECT IMMEDIATELY PRIOR TO 13 JANUARY 2021. 

The parcel is currently vacant, no buildings would be demolished for the project.

    Fantastic. It would be near criminal to let the development potential of this site sunset with the Old Planning Code. No housing lost. No trees lost. 66 Housing units added with PARKING.

    The only way to improve affordability in Reno is to build more housing. Looks like someone is trying!
