by Mike Van Houten / Nov 30, 2018

A permit has been filed for a new bar at 306 East 4th Street, the former home of the Lincoln Lounge. The permit calls for a new bar, named 'The Jesse' in the permit, as well as some hotel upgrades.

The permit reads:

THE JESSE

Bizarre location to build out a boutique hotel project. Does anyone know who's behind this one? It seems like an incredibly difficult project to pull off and is coming years after the last big hype surrounding the revitalization of 4th Street that never ended up happening. The cynic in me wonders if this is some sort of California investment that read too many articles about Tesla, and is dumping money into the property without ever visiting the area and realizing how sketchy this location is.

Have you ever been to Hollywood? There's a W, Katsuya and hipster hangouts amongst some of the most sketchy people you've ever seen, and a homeless population that literally will chase you. (its happened to me) Reno is by far not LA, but if things like that can succeed in that type of environment, I guarantee you the Jesse will do just fine. And yes, it's backed by a CA investor.

I was mugged right there after leaving the Depot. I haven't been back to the Depot or Louis' since that happened, and won't until the shelter moves and the area gets cleaned up. It's not even remotely safe to be down there at night and even during the day it's scary. New article in the Reno News & Review just came out that names Piper Stremmel as the hotelier.
