New renderings have dropped for Reno Revival, which is the Reno City Center (formerly Harrah's) project reborn, after emerging successfully from bankruptcy with a new owner and new developer, plus a new architect and new general contractor are on board with the project.
If these accurately depict what the final product will look like, wow what a huge improvement. There's color! and vibrancy! And a radically different plan for the plaza fronting Virginia Street which, upon inspection, seems like it has a much higher chance of activating Virginia Street.
Also, the new architect-on-record is Gensler, the same company responsible for the new Reno-Tahoe International Airport renovations and the upcoming GSR additions. This is not a small company, when you look at their portfolio, wow impressive.
Also, a new general contractor has been announced, which is ESI Construction which much like the architect, has a gigantic portfolio of projects, including large-scale housing, retail, commercial and public works projects.
According to this sales brochure from Ahlquist Development, much of the office space is already completed, and just needs tenants.
The plaza appears to have MUCH more retail on it than originally planned. The original plan was just to have a plaza that was accessible from the interior restaurant and bar concepts. But this takes it to a new level of activation.
So much color! I hope they stick with this concept.
Even though these are renderings, these are better concepts than the previous iteration of this project. Lots of textures and finishes the prior concept did not have.
I'm seeing a recurring theme here with a prominent grocery store. Pleeeeeeease give what downtowners have been begging for, for the past 15 years.
This particular building needs so much love on the exterior, I hope this is what the end result will be.
