Park Place and Uncommon Construction Update- Framing and a Crane

by Mike Van Houten / Dec 21, 2019

Wood framing has started at Uncommon, a gigantic student housing project wedged between Virginia and Sierra Street just south of the Waldorf and 7-11.

I stopped by as they were finishing up the foundation of the east section of the building, as the massive structure begins to inch downslope. They were also erecting a large crane in preparation of assembling the large student housing project. Uncommon is looking great!

Check out the construction photo gallery below, with some awesome close-up shots. Click any thumbnail to enlarge, then swipe or click the arrows to navigate through the gallery.

Further downslope, things are also ramping up for Park Place.

Park Place is actually two projects: Park Place and Identity Two. The one with framing is Identity Two.

Not between Little Wal and 7-11, these are both north of construction.

Hi Will! I mentioned in the article they are south of the 7-11 and Waldorf, and wedged between Virginia and Sierra, at least I thought I did lol.

When is Reno going to require UNR to start paying for some of its burden on the infrastructure in this town? All these new buildings with increases in student population bring burdens on our public safety and roads. UNR has its own police but when anything real happens RPD has to send units to help. Reno Fire has to run countless calls to UNR for everything from EMS to Explosions of building and how much does UNR give to Reno........$0.00! Time to start charging UNR for the removal of old historic single family homes and replacing them with High rises filled with students who like to party and drink. I don't mind living in a college town as long as its not run by the college...apparently its too late.
