Cottage Row at Midtown Update

by Mike Van Houten / May 7, 2015

Check out photos of the cozy Cottage Row at Midtown. I say cozy because the homes are as close together as they are in my neighborhood! That's not a bad thing, of course, as long as you get along with your neighbors. I grew up in a combination of lofts and condos so I am used to close neighbors. I heard these are now all pre-sold, and start in the mid $400's.

The project is located on Mt. Rose Street near Arlington Avenue, and flank the Redfield Mansion on the east and west sides.

Whoops, I should've looked further into the blog. Too trigger happy.

Hahah H.E. The things I like about these homes: The garages are in the back, they are architecturally varied, they're darn cute, and it's a great use of in-fill space. I agree the homes are waaaay too close to the sidewalk, but perhaps that was to compensate for the garages being in the back. Maybe somehow that design scoots the house closer to the front of the property line. As far as being too close together, that doesn't bother me, my current house is about 10 feet from the house next to me. I grew up in condos and lofts...so close neighbors don't bother me. I am guessing it didn't bother the buyers much either, I heard it's completely presold!

I wouldn't say they're all pre-sold, about 5 are listed on nnrmls: http://www.nnrmls.com/homes-for-sale/450-Mount-Rose-Street-Reno-NV-89509-130283159/popup. I like the look of the houses but my beef with the space comes from the shear price of them. I also wonder about the safety of the corner lot at Mt. Rose and Plumas, too many times have seen someone fly down Plumas at 1:00 AM most likely intoxicated. On a different note, have you seen the new apartments at Taylor and Plumas? I like the look of those. Although I'd hate to be the house north of it on Plumas, talk about a sun-blocker.
