It appears there's a new cafe in Planning for a Certificate of Appropriateness for a new coffee house/cafe in the El Cortez. See below:

A request has been made for a Certificate of Appropriateness to allow for: 1) replacement of the entry door; 2) installation of two 6-inch louvered kitchen exhaust vents; 3) replacement of a boarded-up former window with a walk-up window; 4) reinstallation of a service door; 5) addition of a painted metal louver vent to replace a boarded-up former window. The subject property is located at 239 West Second Street and is on the Local Register of Historic Places.
