The 661 Lake Street Project continues its demolition phase on the large block between 6th and 7th Streets and Center and Lake Streets, across the street from where Canyon Flats is being constructed.

The entire block, 23 buildings total, is set to be demolished for a gigantic housing project that will be a hybrid of student housing and micro-housing in separate buildings.

The project will consist of 416 units, with 219 being micro-units and 197 student housing units totaling 656 beds.

Check out the gallery below of the demolition process of this massive city block.

Also below is a rendering of the project.

What are they doing about parking? Parking is already incredibly limited on campus with parking passes being cost prohibitive for most students. With our sub-par transit system and climate that is prohibitive for biking for a good part of the year, this is going to exacerbate an already big problem.

The project is being built with 536 parking spaces, and is easy walking distance to campus.
