Presentation of Downtown Post Office Plans
Remember the days when Redevelopment Agency Advisory Board meetings used to be interesting? The dreams and hopes of developers would funnel through the citizen advisory board almost every month prior to being presented to the Redevelopment Agency Board (City Council).
Well, wake up! Because things are about to get interesting again with the review of the plans for the downtown Post Office on Thursday at 3:30 in the 7th floor Public Works conference room at City Hall. Here's the link to the Agenda. While I'm not sure if there will be an official presentation or not, they usually at the very least have packets available for review by the public so you can follow what the board is discussing. If you're at all interested in what will become of the downtown post office, you may want to attend this meeting. It won't be the last time you get an opportunity to review the plans however...usually the RAAB is the second stop of a four-stop tour involving neighborhood advisory boards, the RAAB, then usually the Redevelopment Board and Planning Commission, or sometimes the reverse and it hits the Planning Commission first before going to the Redevelopment Agency Board. In any case, this won't be the only opportunity for you to learn what Bernie Carter has in store for the former post office building downtown, but it's a good chance to get a sneak peek. I'll be there!
