The Virginian in Downtown Reno Purchased by Siegel Group

by Mike Van Houten / Dec 6, 2013

Hearing a rumor from multiple sources that Siegel Group, who also owns the Senator Hotel building on West/2nd Street and the Truckee River Lane Building downtown, (home to Java Jungle, Jungle Vino, Sierra Taphouse and Argyle's) bought the long-closed Virginian Hotel downtown for $2.38 million.

The Virginian is currently closed, so what would you turn the building into? A hotel/casino again? Apartments? We shall see what Siegel Group does with the building, as they expand their portfolio in downtown Reno.

My history buff source tells me construction on the Virginian completed in 1987, is 175 feet high, 16 floors, and closed in 2004.

I've noticed them testing the lights on the front of the building a couple times ... can't wait to see what they do with the property.

Any word on what is happening with this project?
