Reno Bites Week is nearly here! This event will showcase many downtown venues, including the not-open-yet Pignic. Two friends of mine, Natasah Bourlin and Clint Jolly, and their team work hard to put this event in the spotlight, and showcase Reno's food scene. We have an amazing array of dining options in Reno so come on down and eat!
Thursday 10/9- Reno Bites Kickoff Party, Chef Meet and Greet

We’re taking over Pignic Pub and Patio (one of Reno’s newest venues) and inviting you to hang out and enjoy a cocktail and some grub with the chefs, owners and staff of Reno’s best local restaurants. It will be a laid back night that let’s you truly get to know the folks behind our food. Josh and Whitney Deri of Dough Catering will be on grill duty so you know the bites will be divine, select chefs will even jump in to lend their hand to dishes throughout the night as well. Saturday 10/11- Dine the District Food Tour

Monday 10/13- Uncork’d Eatery at Midtown Tequila Tasting and Dinner

Chef Jesus Gutierrez, we all know him as Chuy, will be offering up a tasty and educational evening of tequila and his signature Mexican cuisine. Four courses of tequila, each presented by a tequila expert that will guide you through the making, taste, style and culture of tequila. Each course will be served alongside a dish paired to match perfectly, and Chuy himself will be in the dining room to lead you on the culinary end of this journey.

Tuesday 10/14- Campo’s Speakeasy Cocktails and Bites

Grab your flapper dresses and fedoras and get ready for a great night on the town. Chef Mark Estee and his team at Campo are one of Reno’s most highly awarded restaurants. For 2014 they wanted to take a step back in time and recreate a full menu of cocktails and small plates reminiscent of the prohibition era. They’re pulling the curtain on their private dining room to keep prying eyes out so we can all enjoy a few libations without prying eyes.

Wednesday 10/15- Wild River Grille’s Bites and Brews Block Party

The culinary team of Jessica Marrufo and Joseph Bell are teaming up with one of Reno’s newest breweries, Under the Rose, to create a block party featuring brews and delicious eats. Wild River Grille continues to be one of Reno’s hot spots for great dining and an amazing venue in the historic Riverside building. What a great setting to enjoy local beer and a memorable meal with friends!
$50 per person, plus tax and tip. Event starts at 6 PM.
Thursday 10/16- Tournant Pop Up’s Dining in the Dark
130 West St.
Prepare yourself for an unforgettable journey of the tastes buds, in the dark! During the dining in the dark adventure, guests will be given a blindfold and guided through a five course prix fixe dinner with diverse textures and temperatures. The highly trained culinary staff of Tournant will offer guidance along the way. Abandon your inhibitions at the door, this is a dining experience that you don’t want to miss. The event will be held at “Restaurant at The Ross” at 130 West. St. Tickets are $80 and are best bought online.

Friday 10/17- Homage Bakery’s Bluegrass, Bubbles and Bites

Celebrated pastry chef Nicholle Alumbaugh will be creating a spread of hand crafted desserts and savory pastries served alongside champagne and sparkling wine tastings. Cash bar, coffee and other treats available as well. Live music and great times to be had from 7-10 PM, $40 all inclusive tickets can be bought in person at Homage, on their website or through their mobile app.
Saturday 10/18- Chef Showdown at Czyz’s Appliance

The big day for Reno Bites fans! We are back at Czyz’s Appliance this year to take over their showcase kitchens and watch eight of Reno’s chefs go head to head in the name of fun, camaraderie and bragging rights. Doors open at 2 pm, with beer and wine available for purchase throughout the event. Turn in your passport for a chance to win exclusive prizes, including a weekend away at Nakoma resort, a private cooking class for 10 with Chef Pim at Lanna Thai Culinary School and plenty more.
After you’ve had your fill of WATCHING the chefs cook, head over to Bistro 7 for the official after party of Chef Showdown 2014. Chef Michael Woodall will be offering up happy hour small plates and drink specials all night so you can munch and sip on their Bistro fare and hand crafted cocktails. Another chance to learn the skills behind great food comes from Ian Madan at Southcreek Pizza as he teaches us how to make mozzarella from scratch. He will pull and stretch away at the curds before tossing them into your first course- their signature Roasted Pepper and Mozzarella Caprese Salad. After that, you get your choice of their exclusive for Reno Bites “The Sweetie Pie” (Fresh Mozzarella, Stracchino, Red Onion, Sausage, Garlic, Asparagus and Sweety Drop Miniature Peppers) or a build your own pizza.
