Some Activity Regarding the Unused Garage Downtown?

Ooooh what's this? Looks like some activity happening on the garage downtown I reported on before. Purely guessing, I would say the City of Reno is preparing to sell the land under the garage to the owner, so the owner can possibly do something with it, since the city is not in a position to dedicate operating funds to the garage.

Hopefully once the entire structure and land is in private hands, it can be re-opened again and utilized, addressing some of the points I brought up in this post. Since having more parking downtown is a priority of the City, and here's a garage not being used, I would say this is a positive step.

I'm wondering, does this include rights to the large open space above the train trench? That would be a great location for a two-level commercial location, and would be an improvement over the current status of that stretch of Commercial Row. In addition, it would form a logical extension of any planned trench cover development, and would provide for another "link" to the developing Freight House district. On a side note, is the plan for development of Commercial Row across from the train station still on the books, or has that been canceled?

The Fitz's outside lights were all on this evening when I was down there. Paid for by the city council? They might as well tear the Fitz parking structure down. Someone will figure out something to do with that space.

The city council has no money, why would they pay for the Fitz to turn it's lights on? Plus, the City doesn't even own the Fitz, Fernando Leal owns it and I assume he's paying for the lights to be on

Reno Parking Garage LLC is registered with the Secretary of State, but the directors list hasn't been posted yet. However, it used the same Registered Agent that Fernando Leal has used on ALL of his entities. Makes sense, since he (DRW Fitz) owns the parking structure over this land lease property. You have to wonder, with this new investment, are the Fitz and Golden Phoenix projects as dead as generally assumed?
