Nevada Discovery Museum Construction

by Mike Van Houten / Jan 28, 2011

Nice! Check out these updates from the Nevada Discovery Museum's Facebook fanpage, which I highly suggest you 'like'... to get updates.

This morning the footings for Truckee Connects were poured. A working representation of the Truckee River, from the depths of Lake Tahoe to the shores of Pyramid Lake, Truckee Connects will provide opportunities to experiment with water and explore many of its properties. The floor of the museum's atrium will be poured next week.

Fabrication of the bristlecone pine tree that will stand at the entrance to the discovery museum's Nevada Stories gallery is underway. One of Nevada's two state trees, some bristlecone pines in our region are as old as 4,500 years. The Nevada Stories gallery will put our state's history, from the fascinating lifestyles of early Washoe/Shoshone/Paiute Indians to the transcontinental railroad, in the hands of children.

Welding of the steel framework for what will become the cave in the Discovery Museum's Under the Stars gallery. Under the Stars will set the stage for exploration of Nevada's natural history and how to enjoy it.
