Assemblywoman Debbie Smith, D-Reno wants to kill STAR Bonds entirely
6/01/09 - According to RGJ's Inside Nevada politics blog, Debbie Smith is working to kill the popular STAR bonds tax incentive program in retaliation for the Senate killing her bill reforming the program.
According to the blog, "Smith has worked for a year on a measure to change the way cities use the STAR bonds program, strengthening reporting requirements and most notably protecting the portion of the sales tax used for public schools from being used in the incentives. But developers who are counting on the program in downtown Reno and Las Vegas, have succeeded in convincing the Senate Government Affairs Committee to desk the bill, essentially killing it."
So to 'get back at them', Smith introduced an amendment to kill the program entirely, which quickly failed in the Senate Finance Committee, however Smith still vowed to put the amendment into some other bill.
Call me crazy, but I don't think this is how government is supposed to work?

Crazies are not new - in real life or in politics :-)
